Endpoint management

With the rise of remote working and cloud computing, enterprises need to be more efficient than ever when it comes to managing their digital estate. And yet, with the rapid rate of technological advancement, today’s IT leaders face a growing challenge: how do they stay ahead of the curve in endpoint management? It can be challenging to predict what exactly is on the horizon when it comes to enterprise mobility and endpoint management.

In this post, we will explore endpoint management predictions for 2023 and what CISOs/CTOs can do to improve the security posture of the organization.

5 endpoint management predictions for 2023

  1. Cloud adoption will continue to increase

Cloud adoption will continue to rise in Europe and the United States in 2023. Gartner forecasts that global public cloud end-user spending will reach $600 billion in 2023. Infrastructure as a service is expected to grow by almost 30% and platform as a service will grow by almost 25% in 2023. According to a survey of chief technology officers (CTOs) by Evercore-ISI, 44% of CTOs will increase cloud adoption to reduce budgets or inflationary pressure. Gartner’s prediction reveals that by 2025 over 90% of clients will use cloud-based unified endpoint management (UEM) tools. This is up from 50% in 2022.

  1. Security continues to be the top issue for CTOs in 2023

The Evercore-ISI CTO survey revealed that cloud security is of the highest priority for 42% of CTOs, followed by network security and analytics. A recent poll of chief technology officers found that security spending is expected to grow by 14 percent in 2026. The poll found that the underlying factors driving this growth include continuing geopolitical tensions and the emergence of new threats such as deepfake videos and ransomware as a service.

Chief information security officers (CISOs) can strengthen their organization’s defenses in 2023 by ensuring security software is integrated with a unified console to reduce points of vulnerability and increase automation. This may mean consolidating vendors. They also need to invest in upskilling staff on how best to be aware of potential attacks.

  1. Worker mobility will increase further

The way knowledge workers do their jobs has changed in the last few years, and this trend will continue in 2023. Next year, there will be a lot more devices that can connect to 5G networks. This means that people will be able to work from anywhere more easily.

There will be new trends that will make it even more important for CISOs to be prepared. This includes “productivity paranoia,” where workers will want to show that they can be productive, no matter where they are. This means that there will be new ways for attackers to get into networks and devices. In 2023, CISOs need to make sure they are prepared to protect their workers who may be working from anywhere.

  1. CTOs will pay more attention to local factors

In 2023, it will be more difficult to adopt a one-size-fits-all global shortcut because we are seeing an increasing number of national regulations related to data sovereignty, with implications for where that data is stored and secured. There will be an increased digital transformation of public sector agencies in 2023. These agencies often have more country-specific security or compliance rules as compared to their private sector counterparts. Therefore, CISOs need to ensure their endpoint management solutions and technology architecture can adapt to handle extra local requirements.

  1. Transformative technology will rise to the top

In 2023, we will have a better understanding of which technologies are truly transformative and which ones have been overhyped. Many enterprise software solutions will benefit from both sophisticated Artificial Intelligence (AI) and greater automation. Security is a great opportunity for advanced automation and AI.

In the case of endpoint management, Gartner sees that by 2027, UEM and digital employee experience tools will together drive autonomous endpoint management. This would reduce human effort by at least 40%. If security tasks are automated, key staff will have more time for other work.

Endpoint management will continue to be a top priority for businesses. The need for visibility and control over company data is more important than ever before. Microsoft 365 includes powerful UEM tools to help simplify endpoint management, cut costs, and protect data. Invest in UEM solutions to help secure your endpoints and deliver better user experiences in the coming year.
