95% CIOs expect their roles to change due to digital transformation: 2018 CIO survey 

As per the recent survey by Gartner, around 95% of CIOs expected their job and role in an organization to change, because of digital transformation. The 2018 CIO Survey by Gartner reveals that in the era of digitalization, the CIOs will have to remix the job they do, so that they can help the organization to shift and transform into digital business. Gartner surveyed 3160 CIOs across 98 countries, representing nearly $13 trillion in revenue and $277 billion in IT spending. AWS acquires cybersecurity startup Sqrrl to strengthen its public cloud security 

Amazon Web Services has acquired the Cambridge-based cybersecurity startup, Sqrrl, to bolster its public cloud security. Sqrrl provides a Threat Hunting platform which utilizes link analysis, machine learning, and multi-petabyte scalability. The solution helps in detecting the advanced threats faster. After the disclosure of Meltdown and Spectre attacks, the cloud security has become number one priority for tech giants. Global Public cloud services revenue to hit $260 billion in 2017: Gartner

According to Gartner’s latest forecast, the worldwide public cloud revenues are set to hit $260 billion by the end of 2017, up from $219.6 billion in 2016. That shows year-on-year growth of 18.5%. The software as a service (SaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) are the two fastest growing segments in the cloud services market. SaaS revenue might grow by 21%, to $58.6 billion in 2017. Public cloud services market in India to grow 43% in 2017: Gartner

According to a study by global analyst firm, Gartner, public cloud services in India might grow by 43% in 2017 to a total of $1.9 billion. Hyperscale providers continue dominating the public cloud Infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), which is showing the highest growth. IaaS growth will be highest (42%, to $699 million) in 2017, followed by Platform as a service (33.5%, to $169 million), and Software as a Service (33.3%, to $651 million). Rackspace recently inked a deal to acquire Datapipe – one of the leading providers of managed public cloud services provider, which per the company will be the largest acquisition in its history. Huawei and Microsoft collaborate on cloud services to help enterprises drive digital transformation

Microsoft and Huawei signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at Huawei Connect 2017 (Huawei’s flagship event for ICT industry), under which Microsoft applications will be made available on HUAWEI CLOUD. Alibaba Cloud records high revenue, plans for global expansion

Alibaba Cloud – the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group Holding Limited, recently recorded the financial results for the quarter ending June 30, 2017. It achieved the mark of 1 million paying customers which is an increase of 137,000 customers from the previous quarter results. The revenue also jumped to 96% year-over-year to RMB 2,431 million (US $359 million).
