WhatsApp, on Thursday, launched a free to download Android app called WhatsApp Business, which will help companies to connect with their customers, and manage a presence on the messaging platform.
Today, WhatsApp is being used by over 1.3 billion users worldwide. And over 80% of the users in India and Brazil already use WhatsApp for business purposes. WhatsApp Business will make it easier for small businesses to connect with their customers.
The SMEs will be able to share their business description, email, website, and store addresses of their customers.
WhatsApp Business will help save time with smart messaging tools, helping customers with quick replies to frequently asked questions.
Additionally, it will also provide automated messaging feature, using which businesses can set an away message in case they are unable to respond. They can also create an automated greeting message.
The businesses will have Confirmed Accounts by verifying the account’s phone number with business phone number. They can access the app from their desktops, and analyze the messaging statistics, such as how many messages were successfully sent, delivered, and read.
Customers don’t need to download anything new, they can continue with their usual WhatsApp account. They will have all the existing features like blocking any number including the businesses, and report the spam.

WhatsApp might roll out the enterprise-grade version of WhatsApp Business for large businesses as well in future.
WhatsApp Business is currently available for free on Google Play in Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, UK, and US. It will be available around the world in coming weeks.
