VMware has acquired the technology and team of E8 Security, a California-based cybersecurity startup, to provide industry leading, intelligence-driven digital workspace – Workspace ONE, for driving security and empowering employee experience.

The Workspace One is an integrated digital workspace platform powered by VMware AirWatch Technology. It helps employees to securely manage apps on any device. VMware will integrate E8’s security capabilities into VMware Workspace ONE to provide customers with a single platform that can simplify management as well as security, and improve user experience by correlating data for detecting and responding to advanced cyberthreats actively.

E8 Security uses its expertise in user and device behavior analytics to help enterprises detect complex cyber threats based on anomalies and malicious activities faster. The intelligent technology developed by E8 Security combines security analytics, behavior modelling, big data, and multi-dimensional analysis to detect threats.

Its Fusion Platform improves the overall security practice of an enterprise by automatically learning the behaviors of users and devices. It discovers the malicious activities that are unknown to security analysts for better alerting and accelerated investigations to make the security operations more proactive.

“We are on a journey with customers to help them break down management and security silos to drive predictive security and improve the employee experience across their organizations,” wrote Sumit Dhawan, senior vice president and general manager of VMware’s End-User Computing (EUC) business, in a blog post“We expect that adding E8 Security’s capabilities to Workspace ONE will accelerate this journey and help us continue to deliver an industry-leading digital workspace platform.”
