OpenAI has unveiled new capabilities for its ChatGPT platform that make it more human-like than ever before. The company, known for pushing the boundaries of AI, announced on Monday the integration of image and voice functionalities into its popular ChatGPT AI.
Previously, users could only interact with ChatGPT through written prompts. However, with the latest enhancements, users now have the exciting opportunity to engage in voice conversations with the AI and share images to facilitate queries. OpenAI plans to roll out these voice and image capabilities to its paid subscribers, including ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users, over the fortnight. The ChatGPT Plus subscription, which includes access to these features, is available at approximately Rs 1,600 per month in India.
The voice communication feature will be available to users on both iOS and Android platforms. Meanwhile, the image-sharing feature will be accessible across all platforms, ensuring a seamless experience for users regardless of their device of choice.
The voice feature can be activated under the “New Features“ section. You can also use the company’s open-source speech recognition system Whisper to convert speech into text.
To utilize the groundbreaking image feature, users can simply upload a photo through their device’s camera or tap the dedicated photo button. Mobile users can also add multiple images effortlessly by tapping the plus button or using the intuitive drawing tool.
Powered by the combined might of GPT-3.5 and GPT-4, the image recognition feature is designed to work seamlessly with photographs, documents, and screenshots, ensuring accurate and insightful responses to user queries. This remarkable advancement brings ChatGPT closer to understanding the visual world, bridging the gap between text-based AI and the complex realm of images. This also opens a wide range of possibilities for users, from image-based questions to comprehensive document analysis.
OpenAI’s ongoing commitment to innovation continues to reshape the landscape of artificial intelligence. With these latest additions, ChatGPT has taken another giant stride toward becoming an AI companion capable of understanding and interacting with users in a more human-like manner. As these technologies evolve, they hold the potential to revolutionize the way we engage with AI, making it an even more integral part of our daily lives.
