NTT Communications is expanding partnership with VMware to power its Enterprise Cloud (ECL) with VMware Cloud Foundation service. The ECL will now include VMware’s complete software-defined datacenter stack, as well as the VMware Hybrid Cloud Extension.
NTT will integrate the ‘ECL powered by VMware Cloud Foundation’ with its global MPLS (multiprotocol label switching) service, Arcstar Universal One (UNO), and Nexcenter data centers. It will provide a consistent hybrid cloud infrastructure across on-premises datacenters and the cloud, NTT said.
“In the midst of digital transformation, enterprises are accelerating cloud shift from on their own on-premises to cloud,” said Masaaki Moribayashi, senior executive vice president, NTT Com.
“This service is the solution, on top of our partnership, that will help enterprises in transitioning their applications to the cloud. I’m confident in the comfort that customers can feel using our more secure and high-quality services backed by our combined capabilities. This announcement builds on more than a decade of collaboration in cloud between NTT Com and VMware, as we continue to create new value and deliver it to mutual customers.”
The integration will help enterprises to seamlessly and securely migrate their on-premises VMware workloads to ECL, without making changes to the existing security policies or setting designs.
The VMware Hybrid Cloud Extension with ECL will allow enterprises to schedule the migration of large workloads without any replatforming, retesting or changing the required tools. It will reduce the risks related to cloud migration.
Using the new solution, the enterprises will be able to manage their on-premises and cloud environments from a single point. NTT said that it will boost the efficiency of system operation and IT governance.
As a part of the extended partnership, NTT Com has become a VMware Cloud Verified Partner. NTT’s services will now show the “VMware Cloud Verified” logo as a proof of compatibility with VMware cloud infrastructure.
“Cloud service providers play a critical role in the digital transformation of enterprises by enabling highly secure global reach, complemented by specialized local delivery capability,” said Ajay Patel, senior vice president, Cloud Provider Software Business Unit at VMware.
“VMware’s collaboration with NTT Communications reflects our shared commitment to and vision of enabling customers to adopt the cloud seamlessly and securely, while maximizing investments in existing software, tools and talent. We are delighted to have NTT Com offer a compatible VMware Cloud Verified hybrid cloud solution.”
