Microsoft Launcher for Android gets last major update of 2018

Microsoft Launcher for Android is getting the last major update of this year, bringing several new features, improved user experience and bug fixes.

This is the 5.1 version of Microsoft Launcher, which is currently in beta. Ezra Park, Product Lead at Microsoft, revealed the beta launch and new features via a tweet.

“Our last major Microsoft Launcher release of 2018 is one of our favorites. We’re so incredibly thankful for all of the support and feedback from our customers. With the 5.1 update, we want to say THANK YOU and Happy Holidays!”

Among the new features, Ezra Park mentioned the integration of Notes card with Sticky Notes. Users can pin the cards to home screen or choose to view them in Feed. Tasks card has been integrated with Microsoft To Do. Wunderlist card will be available for Wunderlist customers.

Microsoft has introduced a new screen time card and widget that will allow users to track Screen Time, app usage and phone unlocks.

Cortana on Microsoft Launcher is getting an updated card that will support commute/traffic and multi-commitments. Other than this, Cortana will now be available in ES-ES market, whereas, “Hey Cortana” activation will be available in EN-US.

In the Launcher Search bar, customers will be able to use Bing mini-answers for stocks and currency. Ezra Park added that performance has been improved and bugs have been fixed in the Microsoft Launcher latest version.

“Last major feature update but we’re always fixing bugs. We never stop fixing bugs,” added Park.

The beta version of Microsoft Launcher 5.1 is now available from Google Play Store.
