Google has introduced three innovative AI-driven features to its Chrome browser, leveraging the latest advancements in Google AI and Gemini models to enhance user experience. These updates will streamline how users search for information, compare products, and rediscover sites from their browsing history.
Enhanced Google Lens integration to desktop

Previously available only on mobile devices, Google Lens is now extending its capabilities to the desktop version of Chrome. This new feature, set to roll out in the coming days, allows users to search for information directly from their desktop browser. By clicking the Google Lens icon in the address bar or using the right-click or three-dot menu, users can select any item on a webpage to perform a search. The results, displayed in a side panel, include visual matches and AI-generated insights. Users can refine their searches with multisearch options or ask follow-up questions to obtain more detailed information.
AI-powered tab compare

Online shoppers frequently switch between multiple tabs to compare products, reviews, and prices. To streamline this process, Chrome will soon introduce “Tab Compare,” an AI-generated feature that consolidates product details from various tabs into a single overview. Starting soon in the U.S., this tool will generate an AI-driven overview of products from various tabs, bringing together essential details such as specifications, features, prices, and ratings into a single view. This feature aims to reduce the hassle of switching between tabs and assist users in making more informed purchasing decisions.
Improved browsing history search

Chrome’s updated history feature will make it easier to locate previously visited sites through natural, conversational queries. Users can now search their browsing history by typing questions like, “What was that ice cream shop I looked at last week?” The AI-driven search will return relevant pages from the user’s history, making it simpler to find previously visited sites. This feature, available in the U.S. in the coming weeks, can be toggled on or off in settings and will not include data from incognito mode.
These new AI features showcase Google’s ongoing efforts to enhance the browsing experience, making it more intuitive and efficient. With these updates, users can enjoy a more seamless and helpful online experience.
