Google has begun opening up access to Generative AI capabilities in Search to users who signed up for the waitlist in the United States. Called the Search Generative Experience (SGE), users who signed up for the Search Labs waitlist can enable it by tapping on the Labs icon in the Android or iOS app or the Chrome browser on the desktop.
Once granted access, users will encounter an enhanced Search experience driven by generative artificial intelligence. This advanced feature streamlines the search process by assisting users in comprehending topics more quickly, discovering novel perspectives and insights, and accomplishing tasks with greater ease. Rather than having to pose a series of inquiries and manually piece together information, Search now assumes some of the arduous research tasks on behalf of the user.
The new generative AI capabilities enhance the search experience for users. This simplifies searches by providing comprehensive overviews of complex topics, quick tips for specific queries, and informed shopping recommendations. Users can now gain a better understanding of intricate subjects by receiving AI-powered snapshots that highlight key factors to consider.
Specific questions prompt a range of content from across the web, offering quick and reliable answers. Additionally, when shopping, users are presented with essential information, such as prices, ratings, and options to choose from. These generative AI capabilities aim to make searches more efficient and user-friendly, empowering individuals to access relevant information and make informed decisions.
Google has also allowed experimenting with Search Lab’s Code Tips and Add to Sheets in the US.
