Cloud Expo Asia was all about cutting edge technologies, AI, IoT and trends in cloud

Cloud Expo Asia – the largest business technology event of Asia Pacific, recently took place in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. The event was collocated with Cloud and Cyber Security Expo, Big Data World, Smart IoT Singapore, Data Center World and Ecommerce Expo.

This year, the event saw a gathering of over 350 international technology innovators, who attended sessions of over 500 expert speakers. There were dozens of case studies that were discussed in over 19 content theatres.

The attendees gained insights and learnt about latest trends in DevOps, cloud, internet of things (IoT), SD-WAN, blockchain, big data, artificial intelligence, security, colocation, edge computing, edge data centers, and automation.

Apart from the innovative sessions and workshops, the event hosted Techerati Keynote Theatre in which international technology leaders, senior industry speakers, and executives shared their organizations’ roadmap for digital transformation.

A much-anticipated panel discussion brought cloud leaders – Alibaba Cloud, IBM and Microsoft together, for a thought-provoking session.

Cloud Expo Asia 2018 saw some fresh and new entries in the form of eCommerce Expo, FinTech and Blockchain Theatre, DevOps Live Workshops, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning stream. These events welcomed over 100s of ecommerce professionals and providers of the latest technologies. The ecommerce expo hosted sessions of over 40 leading brands and marketplaces like JD.com, Grab, Shopee, Redmart, Foodpanda, Lazada, UrbanFox Asia and dotmailer etc.

Key theatres and sessions at Cloud Expo Asia:

Techerati Keynote Theatre

The Techerati keynote theatre saw some interesting sessions on containerization, 5G, software defined services, multi-cloud and digital transformation journeys.

Ericson Chan – CEO PingAn Technology, discussed the increasing role of AI, blockchain, cloud and other leading technologies in the digital transformation of an organization.

Alibaba Cloud International’s head of global strategic initiatives – Joey Tan, discussed the evolution of cloud technology and what will determine success in the future digital world.

CloudAsia Theatre

The premier case-study driven conference – CloudAsia, powered by SG Tech covered some important tracks built around smart cities, digital transformation, fintech, security and compliance. It helped attendees learn how to manage challenges that arise from disruptive technologies and equip their organizations with future skills.

Some important sessions included Intelligent Cloud and Intelligent Edge session led by Richard Koh – Chief Technology Officer, Microsoft Singapore.

There was also a panel discussion on cloud architecture to enable the future of services. In it was discussed how AI, blockchain and other advanced technologies will affect development and delivery of next-generation of services.

FinTech and Blockchain Theatre

The theatre included technology leaders, start-ups and businesses who are disrupting the traditional financial institutions. Topics like cryptocurrency, blockchain, RegTech, ICOs, SupTech, WealthTech, etc. were covered.

There was a panel discussion on – Future of Banking – Evolution or Revolution which was led by the technology experts of banking and financial sectors.

The future of fintech in 2019 was also discussed here and whether it will of any relevance to the industries.

DevOps Live Workshops

The theatre covered the latest happenings and updates in DevOps, Microservices and Containers.

Eric Tan, Solutions Engineer at Docker Inc. in his session Docker Enterprise – Containerization in Action, talked about how dev and ops teams are making optimum use of containerization technology and are speeding their multi-cloud and digital initiatives with the help of Docker solutions.

Smart IoT Keynote Theatre

The smart IoT keynote theatre, sponsored by Microsoft, discovered the role of IoT in changing, transforming and growing an enterprise. This forum covered connected enterprise, smart cities, connected industry, IoT innovation and connected transport.

There was a panel discussion on – are we ready for Industry 4.0. Other sessions covered topics like smart warehousing, blossoming of IoT, blockchain In logistics and transportation, enabling the experience of things in digital time and future accelerators of business transformation.

The co-located events were also highly informational and full of learnings. Cloud and Cyber Security Keynote theatre focused on the very crucial topic of security. With increasing flow of data through cloud and other advanced technologies, security officers, CSOs, CIOs need to ensure that this data is secured and protected.

There were exhibitions by leading business houses like PwC, Splunk, Sansan, Cato Networks and many others. The attendees included CIOs, COOs, CFOs, CTOs, Data Center managers, IT architects and other business leaders.

Advanced cloud automation technology leaders like RackNap were also a part of the event.

The two-day conference was an exhilarating experience with free flow of information and insights. We are now excited for the next innings of Cloud Expo Asia in 2019.
