Key Learnings from the session were:

1.  Covid has accelerated the rate of cloud adoption and tech enablement is no longer a challenge with the Governments, more departments are on the lookout of cloud ready solutions with clear migration plans.

2. Key consideration in terms of Cost of Cloud and Total Cost of Ownership will become secondary considerations especially with mass adoption of Cloud Tech like the telecom story in India, wherein price to the consumer is no longer the key differentiator.

3. Training of the customer user base especially in the Government fraternity at the right levels and Skilling and Re-skilling of the existing IT industry professionals for Cloud Infrastructure and application skills is the key to evangelize the cloud journey in India.

4. While scalability and cost efficiency may appear to be the primary USP for cloud adoption, security systems in cloud are the key differentiator as cloud offers superior safety nets due to the inbuilt architecture of cloud as opposed to an on-prem model.

5. Clear migration path and data transfer for End of Life and End of Support IT systems to Cloud is the key to progressive cloud adoption in citizen centric services.

6. Classification of Data Sovereignty and Privacy Rules puts the advanced economies – Singapore, Australia, UK etc. ahead of the pack in terms of cloud adoption, however, cloud adoption for critical services in these countries is still low.
